The Teeth Whitening Process
The process is simple and outlined below:
Consultation
Our Canyon Rim dentist will use a tooth shade chart to determine the current shade of your teeth. You will discuss how many shades whiter you would like your smile to be.Â
Actual appointment
We will place a lip retractor in your mouth to make your teeth easier to access by the dentist. Then, we will cover your gums with a proprietary gingival barrier to protect it from the bleaching chemicals and sensitivity. It’s common for your teeth to become sensitive, but we will apply a compound to your teeth to reduce the likelihood. Then comes the actual placement of the hydrogen peroxide gel to your teeth, and is followed with a high-powered LED light. This process is intended to break apart stain compounds on the top layer of your teeth.Â
Within the span of about 40 minutes, we will place the gel and LED light on your teeth multiple times in intervals to create a brighter, whiter smile!Â
After your appointment
You will likely not need to come back in for a touch up but it may be beneficial, depending on what our dentist recommends for you, to keep your teeth white through over-the counter products. We also offer GLO whitening take-home kits so you can whiten your own teeth all year long!
